What is in these schemes of work
A scheme of work breaks a term into weeks and lessons before the term starts.
- Week and lesson numbers across the whole term, matched to the school calendar
- Strand and sub-strand exactly as the KICD rationalised design names them
- Specific learning outcomes, the key inquiry question and the core competencies each lesson builds
- Learning experiences, the resources the lesson needs, and how the learner is assessed
- A reflection column the teacher fills in as the term runs
It is the document a head of department asks for in week one, and the one an assessment officer checks against the record of work at the end of term.
